BERLIN'S HISTORY AND ARTS ALL IN ONE PLACE

In the Neues Museum, see an impressive collection of Egyptian and Nubian archaeological artefacts in the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlun. In contrast, in the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte features a vast collection of finds from across the entirety of Europe and parts of Asia. In the nearby Alte Nationalgalerie, view Romantic and Impressionist works totalling over 1800 paintings and 1500 sculptures. In the Pergamonmuseum, view collections devoted to classical antiques (most notably the Pergamon Altar), ancient Eastern treasures and Islamic art.
Getting to the State museums from your Berlin accommodation couldn't be easier. Turn left onto Breite Straße and go straight, veering left at Berlin Palace. The museums are on the other side of the palace. The entry is easily identifiable along Am Lustgarten.
LIFE ON TWO WHEELS
The absolute best way to see Berlin is by bicycle. In a single day, you can travel from West to East and see many of Berlin's top attractions. In Mitte, you can visit the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Bellevue Palace and a gorgeous ride through the green Tiergarten all in a single afternoon. Feeling more adventurous? Follow the remnants of the Berlin Wall and take in the East Side Gallery, Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Further afield, cruise the stylish and eclectic neighbourhoods of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Graefekiez and see if you can pick up a bit of that Berlin cool for yourself.

Mitte means 'centre' in English, yet instead of a typical CBD with skyscrapers and gridlocked streets, Berlin's Mitte is a hive of cultural cool, all day (and night) dining, bars, clubs, boutique shopping and of course some of Berlin's top tourist attractions. Your serviced apartment accommodation on Museum Island is located here, as well as the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and Alexanderplatz to name just a few notable locations.
One of our favourite pastimes in Mitte is heading to James-Simon-Park after a day spent sightseeing or in meetings and joining thousands of Berliners for a sundown drink on the lush lawns. The park looks across the Spree back to Museum Island and Berlin Palace and features small bars and after work eateries. People lounge about on deck chairs and pass the day's news. To get there from your Berlin accommodation, turn left up Breite Straße and walk straight until you come to Schloß and cross the River Spree. Cross the road and wander at the riverside walk to James-Simon-Park and mingle.
ALL NIGHT LONG
Berlin's nightlife is (in)famous. No matter the time of year, Germany's largest city offers plenty to see and do once the sun goes down. Unlike other European capitals, Berlin has no official close time for businesses to adhere to, so they're happy to stay open and welcome all comers any time of day or night.
For live music, head to the Quasimodo Club on Kantstraße in Charlottenburg. The venue carries an enviable reputation for hosting some of Germany's and the world's top performers, including Dizzy Gillespie, since the 1960s. Looking for late-night eats? Why not try the cult favourite, Mustafas Gemüse Kebap. This small stand on the west side of Mehringdamm in Berlin Kreuzberg has lines stretching around the corner all day and night, but the service is fast and the food out of this world. Looking for more of a sit-down affair? Try Sardinian Italian restaurant Vino e Libri on Choriner Str in Mitte, just off Zionskirchstraße. The family-owned restaurant serves up flavourful and expertly prepared regional Italian dishes well into the night; often you'll see diners out at well past midnight.
SANSSOUCI PALACE AND SURROUNDS
Sanssouci Palace and surrounds is closely tied to the larger than life memory of Prussian king, Frederick the Great. As much at home with artists as with armies, Frederick the Great commissioned the palace as a summer escape where he could relax away from the intrigue and pomp of the royal court in Berlin. The name, 'Sanssouci ', is a play on words which in French means 'without concerns', and wandering the palace's extensive gardens, halls and terrace vineyard, it's easy - for royalty at least - to see why.
The easiest way to get from your serviced apartments in the Berlin CBD to Sanssouci Palace is to take the Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Potsdam from Hauptbahnhof Station. The train leaves every 30 minutes throughout the day, so there's no rush to beat the clock.
GETTING TO BERLIN AND GETTING AROUND
Getting to your apartment in the Berlin city centre couldn't be easier. Two airports service Berlin, and it depends on which one you arrive at, as to your transport options. Arriving at Berlin Schönefeld Airport, catch the Airport Express - the quickest and cheapest option to get to Mitte with a train leaving every 30 minutes from the airport. When arriving at Berlin Tegel Airport, it's recommended to catch a taxi to the city centre or a chauffeur-driven airport transfer.
